Help out at The Plant
The vast majority of our work is done by our volunteers. We’re so glad to have received thousands of hours from hundreds of people interested in The Plant!
If you’re an individual and you’d like to help out, here’s what you need to know:
- First, foremost: You must be over 18 to volunteer at The Plant! Unfortunately, that’s the law.
- We work every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday* from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Just ring the doorbell when you arrive – but please try to stay the whole day! Getting set up is time-consuming, so we’d be really glad if you stayed after lunch. Thanks!
- Please wear clothes that can get dirty, including long pants, close-toed shoes.
- Be prepared for some manual labor.
- We’ll provide lunch (always with vegetarian options) – but only if you can stay the whole day!
If you’re leading a group, here’s what you need to know:
- Everything above applies, but also…
- For the time being, we can only accept groups of 5 people at once. This is especially true on Saturdays, when we have lots of folks come out. (Email us if you’d like to bring up to 7 during the week.) We know this is hugely disappointing (we’d love to take more), but we have a tiny staff to manage volunteers (2 full-time, 3 part-time, and 2 interns). We’re working on this situation – and very grateful for all of the offers for help! – but this has to be our limit for now. We’ll update this page as things change. Thanks for understanding!
Questions? Feel free to email us.
*Unfortunately, we don’t work at the building on Wednesdays and Fridays. Sorry!
